ELECTRONIC COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

1.      I don’t have access to a computer.  Can I still sign up for this service?

Yes, you can obtain a paper registration form from the main office of your child’s school. Send the completed form to school with your child to be sent to the main office, or mail it to the following address:

Miss Amy Birkhimer, Technology Specialist

      Somerset Area School District

2.      Where can I find my child’s Student ID number?

For elementary school students, the Student ID number can be found on their ID card or on the Parent Portal.  It also the number your child uses to check books out of the library and it is used as the lunch Personal Identification Number (PIN).

Secondary students can find their Student ID number in all of the same places listed above, as well on the schedule sticker on the inside front cover of the planners received at the start of the school year.

3.      Why do I need to enter my child’s Student ID number?

This will ensure that only parents or guardians of Somerset Area School District students are registered in this system.

4.      For the primary (required) phone number, can I use my cell phone number?

Yes, you can use either a cellular phone or land line number.

5.      Why do you need to know my cell phone provider?

Each cell phone service has a specific code for text messages. In order for the system to send the text message in a format that your cell phone will be able to read, it needs to know your cell phone provider to ensure the proper coding is used.

6.      How do I know that my information was entered?

You will have the opportunity to review the information that you’ve entered before submitting it.  After your information is submitted, you will see a thank you page ensuring your information is now in the database.
